My last post was pretty sad...
I was feeling homesick. But I have to be fair. There are also lots of things I love about my new place of residence (in no particular order).
10. All the trees! They are beautiful.
9. My apartment. I love it. It is small, and not perfect, but it is homey and it's mine. The neighborhood I live in is also pretty cool. It's got lots of little restaurants and shops and stuff. It reminds me a lot of Sugarhouse. And I'm pretty close to the school, which is nice.
8. Panera Bread...so, so delicious.
7. The Rochester public market. This is a great farmers market...it keeps in in produce for cheap.
6. All the big old houses. They are super pretty, and have a lot of character.
5. The U of R. The campus is great. My program is great (the other students, the administrative staff...all great). Academia suites me.
4. The Leavit/ Hannig family. They are super cool. The kids are some of the most creative people I've seen. They are just a great family. And they feed me which is always an added bonus.
3. My cohort. They are all pretty great! We have had some fun adventures together. On Halloween we watched Hocus Pocus; because we're cool like that
2. My church. I am still struggling with the whole YSA (young single adult) thing, but I really do like the people in my branch. I've made some really cool friends.
1. My advisor/lab. My advisor's name is Judi Smetana. She has been wonderful. She is always willing to meet with me. She's very supportive of all her students and their interests. Everyone in the lab has been so welcoming and supportive, and willing to answer my zillions of questions.
